A very instructive article appears today in Online Media Daily on how content is being shared over the Internet.  Despite the dramatic growth in the use of social networks, a study by ShareThis found that email is the tool most used to share content.  

The study found that email accounts for 46% of content-sharing activity.  Facebook comes in second with 33%, and “other” channels account for 14.5%.  Surprisingly, Twitter comes in at just 6%.

The study reinforces what is already pretty well known — email and social marketing are key parts to any marketing mix, and, in fact, are highly complimentary.
