Campaign Tutorial: Thank You/Confirmation
Message to New Subscribers

Client Objective

New subscribers sign up regularly on Organization XYZ’s subscription page to receive one or more of its electronic newsletters. The organization wants to send a welcome/confirmation message to each new subscriber the day after they sign up. This campaign requires a subscription page hosted by RealMagnet.

Step. 1: Create the Campaign Elements

First create the campaign elements – i.e. the message and group that make up the campaign. This is done outside of the Campaign tool. Simply create message and group as you normally would in MagnetMail.

For this campaign, users would create these elements:

Create Message “Welcome” Message welcomes new subscribers and confirms their submission.
Create Group “New Subscribers” Subscribers who signed up yesterday will be added to this group.

Step 2: Create the Campaign

Now let’s create the campaign. Click the “Campaign” tab and under the option “Create New Campaign”, input a campaign name (e.g. “Welcome New Subscribers”) and click the adjacent red button.

Step 3: Create an Action – Adding to Groups

Next, you create the campaign’s actions. Let’s create the add to a group action first. The first action will add into a group all subscribers who sign up yesterday.

  1. Name the action “Add_new_subscribers” and click the Next button.

  2. From the Select Action Type page, select the “Add to Group” radio button. Then select the group “New Subscribers” from the adjacent pull-down menu and click the Next button.

  3. On the Select Search Method page, choose “By Subscribed” and click the Next button.

  4. Next, define the time period for identifying new subscribers. For purposes of this example, select Yesterday from the first pull down menu.

  5. Next, you schedule the time to run the action (i.e. what time MagnetMail will add to the “New Subscribers”group all recipients who signed up yesterday).
    • Select the action’s Start Date and End Date.
    • Next, select the time of day the action should run using the Schedule Action Time options. When adding to groups, it is recommended to run the action in the early morning hours in order to capture all recipients who signed up the previous day (e.g. 2:00 am).
    • Next, from the Interval pull down menu, select the frequency with which the action will run. For purposes of this campaign, select the Daily option and click the Next button.

A message confirming that the action has been created will be displayed.

The action has been created. So every day at 2:00 am, MagnetMail will find all the recipients who signed up yesterday and add them to the group “New Subscribers”.
