Data Security and Hosting

Providing top-of-the-line data, application, and network security is an absolute priority of Real Magnet's. Significant resources have been—and will continue to be—devoted to maintaining an environment whose security is commensurate with the importance each client attaches to the security of its data and the reliability of the MagnetMail system.

Here are some of the key measures Real Magnet takes to maintain system security:

Data Security

Real Magnet clients have exclusive rights and ownership to their data. Real Magnet is prohibited from transferring or using client data in anyway without the express consent of clients.

Access to production databases is limited to the fewest possible points. All customer data is stored on disk storage that is mirrored across different storage cabinets and controllers. All customer data, up to the last committed transaction, is automatically backed up to a primary tape library on a nightly basis.

Email Recipient Policy

Every email distributed by the MagnetMail application provides recipients with an opt-out option. Email recipients who select the unsubscribe option will be removed from that list automatically. All emails sent from the application are sent to lists that have been represented to Real Magnet as opt-in and/or membership-based lists.

Physical Security

The MagnetMail application and network is hosted at a facility in Hoboken, NJ, that provides 24/7 physical security. Badge/photo ID access screening and biometric access screening are used for additional security. Motion sensors and security breach alarms protect sensitive security areas. Security personnel monitor video cameras installed throughout the facilities.

User Authentication

Clients are provided with a unique account, accessible only by a unique username and password, both of which are selected by clients. Passwords are encrypted. Licensee is responsible for its own usernames and passwords and agrees not to disclose usernames or passwords to any third parties and to keep them secret at all times.

Application Security

The MagnetMail application is secured through the use of session management, which times out a user after a specified amount of time has expired without said user taking an action in the application.

Backup Power, Disaster Control, and Redundancy

Real Magnet's data facilities furnish dual power availability to each rack unit from independent power distribution units (PDUs), removing PDU loss as a single point of failure. To ensure stable connectivity, a redundant Need+1 (N+1) design of uninterruptible power supplies is provided, which utilizes two separate commercial power feeds from two separate power grids. Five redundant standby generators guarantee consistent operation in the event of a power failure from commercial power. These generators are equipped with 72 hours of diesel fuel on site, and two contractors are on call to refuel to the storage tanks. The hosting facilities features seismically braced racks and are designed to withstand disastrous conditions. A second point of presence is available to clients seeking fail-safe redundancy.
