Technical Analysis
EmailExam analyzes the technical attributes of a message that can
impact deliverability. Specific tests include:
- Reverse DNS Entry
Tests for a valid reverse DNS Entry -- a requirement of many spam filters.
- Valid From Field
Tests for a properly formatted “From” field. Malformed “From” fields can cause dramatically higher bounce rates.
- Unsubscribe Mechanism
Scans message for an unsubscribe mechanism, which, depending on the nature
of the message, may be a requirement of CAN-SPAM.
- Attachments
Identifies the existence of an attachment, which can cause a message to be
filtered as spam.
- Physical Address
Scans message for a sender’s physical address, which, depending on the nature
of the message, may be a requirement of CAN-SPAM.
- Multi-part Message
Detects whether message is an HTML/text “multi-part message”.
- Mime Boundaries
Analyzes message for properly formatted Mime Boundaries.
- SPF Record
Tests for the presence of an SPF record, an industry-accepted method of authenticating
the email sender.
